Elise Raimi is a southerner by birth, a traveler at heart, and a Spokanimal by choice. She is a graduate of the Harvard School of Public Health and has lived and worked across much of Africa and South Asia where she focused on preventing the sexual exploitation of refugees. She gave up a life of international travel and professional fulfillment to become a (mostly) stay-at- home mom in 2005 when she moved to Spokane with her husband. Although the gap in her C.V. continues to widen and her student loans linger, she is shocked to find herself content, perhaps even thrilled, with life in the Pacific Northwest. Elise continues to work as a part-time consultant for overseas aid work and is the co-founder and producer of Listen To Your Mother Spokane, a stage performance featuring local people reading original essays about the beauty and the beast that is mothers and motherhood.
